The five measurements to exchange before pickup

Two numbers describe a footprint. A workable collection plan also needs height, entry information and the size of the stack being moved.

State dimensions and units

Write length × width × height and the unit. Record actual measurements, not a size inferred from a photo. For a mixed batch, give counts by footprint.

Measure the route as well

Compare the stack and loaded vehicle with the available access route. Ask about gates, height restrictions, collection appointments and whether loading equipment is provided. Never assume a listed collection address has a public loading area.

Make photos do useful work

Include a top view, a side view showing entry openings, the complete stack and any defects. Avoid including people, licence plates or confidential labels in public photographs.

Keep these details together

  • Length, width and height
  • Unit stated explicitly
  • Count by footprint
  • Loading and access constraints
