Free does not mean unclaimed

A pallet behind a business is not an invitation to collect it. Start with permission, then establish which pieces are actually being offered.

Ask the person responsible

Contact the business or property operator and describe the exact stack. Ask whether a manager can authorize collection and whether a rental, exchange or supplier-owned pallet is mixed into the lot. Keep that permission with the pickup details.

Make the handoff specific

Agree on a date, the quantity you may take, the loading area and who will load. Do not enter a yard or move equipment without the operator’s agreement. If the available stack changes, confirm again before taking a different one.

Write a useful offer

An offer should identify footprint, approximate count, visible condition and collection constraints. “Free pallets, collect today” is missing the information someone needs to decide whether the trip makes sense.

Keep these details together

  • Written or recorded permission
  • Exact stack identified
  • Ownership marks checked
  • Collection time agreed
